About Us
ILC Washington (ILC stands for Indigenous Learning Company) was founded
in July 2006. A wholly-owned and controlled tribal enterprise of the Kalispel
Tribe of Indians, ILC Washington was initially created to develop and publish
web-based learning solutions for Washington’s 1 million K-12 students.
Working closely with a number of public and
private strategic partners, ranging from Canada’s Indigenous Learning Company to Washington’s VPNet; from numerous Washington school districts to many of the
state’s outstanding postsecondary institutions, ILC Washington is determined to
help ensure that every child in the state has an equal opportunity for an
excellent education.
ILC Washington was a natural outgrowth from
the Kalispel Tribe’s long-held belief in the crucial importance of education.
The Tribe’s Camas Institute, and its 501(c) (3) non-profit Camas Institute
Foundation were both created in part to address the need for enhanced learning
opportunities for Kalispel students and their non-Indian peers across the
state. ILC Washington supports this commitment by providing the Institute and
Foundation with a publishing arm, capable of developing compelling,
standards-specific, web-based learning programs that accurately reflect the
histories, cultures, and contributions of our regions Native American peoples.
